Plinko in the UK: the game, the versions and where it is legal
Around 7,300 people a month in the UK search for plain 'plinko'. Some want the Price Is Right board, some want a free drop, most want to know whether the casino version pays and where it is legal to play. All of that is below, with the demo first.
Plinko is three things at once in a UK search box. It is the pegboard from The Price Is Right, it is a pile of free "drop and win" apps in the Play Store that pay nothing, and it is a casino game where every ball is a bet. This page is about the third one, played for pounds at sites licensed by the Gambling Commission, with the free demo first so you can see what the fuss is about before any money moves.
If you want the long version of how the game is built, our global Plinko page has it. This is the UK version: which Plinkos are actually on British sites, what each one pays, what you can stake, and where the legal line sits.
Play the Plinko demo
This is Spribe's own demo. Set it to 16 rows and high risk and drop ten balls. Most will land in the middle buckets, which on that setting pay less than your stake. Then set it to 8 rows and low risk and drop ten more. Nearly every ball comes back with roughly what you put in. That is the whole game in twenty drops: rows and risk decide whether you are buying a lot of small refunds or a few lottery tickets.
A note for UK readers: Spribe geo-restricts its demo in some regions and it occasionally refuses to load from a British IP. If that happens, every UKGC casino below has a free-play mode inside the real game. You will need to register and pass the age check first, because the Commission does not allow unverified free play, but no deposit is needed.
Which Plinko? The versions on UK sites
There is no single Plinko. Spribe made the one that most crash-game lobbies carry, but on UK casino sites you are just as likely to meet BGaming's, Hacksaw's, or one of the branded spin-offs. They look alike and pay very differently.
| Version | Provider | RTP | Rows | Max multiplier | Seen at |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Plinko | Spribe | 97% to 99% by risk level | 8 to 16 | 1,000x | Returning to UK lobbies after the 2026 licence reinstatement |
| Plinko | BGaming | 99% | 8 to 16 | 1,000x | Several UKGC sites under the BGaming label |
| Plinko | Hacksaw Gaming | 88.2% to 98.98%, casino chooses | 8 to 16 | 3,843x | MrQ (set to 94.3%), Unibet, others |
| Plinko Go | BGaming | 97% | 8 to 16 | 1,000x | Paddy Power, Betfair |
| Olympus Plinko | Pragmatic Play | 96.5% | fixed | 1,000x | Widely carried as a "slot" |
| Plinko | Stake Originals | 99% | 8 to 16 | 1,000x | Stake only; Stake is not UKGC-licensed |
The column that matters is RTP. A 99% Plinko keeps £1 of every £100 you drop over a long run. A Hacksaw Plinko set to 94.3% keeps £5.70. Same board, same animation, nearly six times the cost. UK rules require the figure to be in the game's info panel, usually under the "i" icon, so look before the first drop.
Sixteen rows, high risk: the two outside buckets are where the screenshots come from and where almost no balls go.
Where to play Plinko in the UK
Only Gambling Commission licensees. That rules out Stake, Roobet and the crypto sites that rank for "bitcoin plinko", which we cover further down. The three below all take debit cards and PayPal, all show the RTP in the game panel, and all let you set deposit limits before you play, which the Commission requires. Order is ours: it weighs how quickly we found the game, the version on offer, and how long the withdrawal took to land.

1bet365
UKGC licence. Plinko sits under Games then Instant Win; debit card, PayPal and Apple Pay all work, withdrawals back to the card in a day or two in our log.

2William Hill
UKGC licence. Plinko in the Vegas section, 10p minimum drop, PayPal in and out.

3Unibet
UKGC licence. Several Plinko versions in the casino lobby, including the Hacksaw one with its adjustable rows.
bet365 leads because Plinko is two taps from the home page and the withdrawal back to a debit card has been next-day for us every time. William Hill has the lowest fuss: 10p drops, PayPal both ways, no casino wallet to move money into. Unibet carries more Plinko versions than the other two, which is useful if you want the Hacksaw board specifically. MrQ, PlayOJO and Paddy Power also carry it and are licensed; we have not run enough withdrawals through them to rank them yet.
How to play Plinko with £ examples
If you have placed a bet on a football accumulator, you can play Plinko. The hardest part is finding the settings.
- Open the game and find the settings panel. Rows and risk sit beside the bet amount, usually on the left on desktop and under the board on a phone. The default is often 12 or 16 rows at medium risk.
- Choose rows. More rows means more buckets and a wider spread of multipliers. Eight rows gives nine buckets and a tight range. Sixteen gives seventeen buckets and extremes at both ends.
- Choose risk. Low risk flattens the buckets so the centre pays close to 1x. High risk hollows out the centre to below 0.5x and pumps the edges up to 1,000x or more. Medium is a compromise and not an obviously better one.
- Set the stake. 10p minimum at nearly every UK site. £1 is a sensible drop for a first session.
- Drop the ball. Press Bet. The ball bounces down, lands in a bucket, and your £1 becomes £1 times the bucket. On Spribe's 16-row high-risk board the centre pays 0.2x, so a £1 drop that lands there returns 20p.
- Use auto play if you must. You set the number of drops and a stop-loss. It is faster and it is how £20 becomes £0 in four minutes. We use it only in the demo.
A worked session on BGaming's board, 16 rows, medium risk, £1 a drop, 100 drops: you have put £100 through. The expected return is £99. In practice the spread is wide: in our last hundred-drop run we were down £14 at drop 60 and finished up £6 because of one 26x landing. That is variance, not skill, and the next hundred drops owe you nothing.
Rows, risk and what the buckets really pay
Every Plinko board is a binomial distribution dressed up with pegs. With 16 rows the ball makes 16 left-or-right bounces, so landing dead centre needs 8 of each and happens about 19.6% of the time. Landing in the far-right bucket needs 16 rights in a row, which is 1 in 65,536. The provider sets each bucket's multiplier so that the probability-weighted sum comes to the RTP, and the risk setting is just which shape they use to get there.
Same odds of landing in each bucket. Different prices on the buckets.
So on low risk the centre pays about 1x and the edge pays 5x or 16x. On high risk the centre pays 0.2x and the edge 1,000x. Over a thousand drops both settings return the same percentage. What changes is the texture: low risk is a slow leak, high risk is a fast drain with occasional refills. Pick on temperament, not on maths, because the maths is indifferent.
The 1,000x bucket deserves its own sentence. At 1 in 65,536 per drop you would need, on average, about 18 hours of continuous one-drop-a-second play to see it once. The clips on TikTok are either the Stake version at huge drop counts, play-money demos, or edited.
RTP and the house edge, in pounds
The provider fixes the RTP and the UK casino cannot alter it, except with Hacksaw's Plinko, where the casino picks from a menu of settings and must display the one it chose. Here is what the spread means over £1,000 of drops:
- 99% (BGaming, Spribe low risk, Stake): expect £990 back, £10 kept.
- 97% (Spribe high risk, Plinko Go): £970 back, £30 kept.
- 96.5% (Olympus Plinko): £965 back.
- 94.3% (Hacksaw at MrQ's setting): £943 back, £57 kept.
- 88.2% (Hacksaw at its lowest setting): £882 back.
Nothing you do with rows, risk or timing moves those numbers. The settings move the variance; the version moves the cost. If you only take one thing from this page, take the habit of tapping the info icon and reading the RTP before you drop. Our global Plinko page has the full bucket tables for each version.
Deposits and withdrawals at UK casinos
Debit card is still the default and the fastest: Visa or Mastercard debit, instant in, one to three working days out. PayPal is nearly as quick both ways and keeps your card details off the casino, which some readers prefer. Apple Pay works for deposits at most of the sites above but rarely for withdrawals, so the money comes back to the underlying card. Bank transfer via open banking (Trustly, Pay by Bank) is instant in and often same-day out.
Credit cards are banned. That has been the law in Great Britain since April 2020 and it covers credit-card-funded e-wallets as well, so a PayPal account with only a credit card attached will be refused. Minimum deposits run £5 to £10. Withdrawals go back to the method you deposited with, which the Commission requires for money-laundering reasons, and the first one will be held until you have sent a photo of your ID and sometimes a proof of address. Do that on day one rather than on the day you want your money.
The legal position: UKGC, Spribe and offshore sites
Online gambling in Great Britain is legal only with operators licensed by the Gambling Commission. Every site we list holds that licence, which is why you will see deposit-limit prompts, a 15-minute session reminder and a GAMSTOP link in the footer. Those are conditions of the licence, not the casino being nice.
Spribe, which makes the original Plinko and Aviator, had its UK licence suspended on 30 October 2025. Its games vanished from British lobbies overnight. The suspension was lifted in 2026 and the games are coming back site by site, which is why you may find BGaming's Plinko at a casino that had Spribe's a year ago. It is the same board in all the ways that matter.
Offshore sites, mostly licensed in Curaçao, Anjouan or nowhere, will happily take a UK player. They carry Stake's Plinko, they take crypto, and if a withdrawal stalls there is no ombudsman, no ADR scheme and no GAMSTOP. We do not list them. 18+ only, everywhere, with ID checked.
Bitcoin Plinko and the "win real money" apps
Two searches sit next to "plinko" in the UK and both need a straight answer.
Bitcoin Plinko means Stake's version, or one of its imitators, played in crypto at a casino that is not UK-licensed. The game itself is fine: 99% RTP, provably fair, the one most streamers use. The problem is everything around it. Stake blocks UK IPs, so playing it means a VPN and a terms breach that voids your balance if noticed, and your deposit sits outside any UK consumer protection. If you want the 99% board, BGaming's is on licensed sites and plays identically.
Plinko apps that pay real money are the ones ranking on Google Play for "plinko for real money". They are not casinos. They show a cash balance rising, then ask you to watch adverts or reach a withdrawal threshold that keeps moving. We have never seen one pay. Real-money Plinko in the UK lives inside a licensed casino's app, after an ID check, with a deposit limit. Our Plinko for real money page goes through the difference in detail, and the free demo page covers what you can play without a deposit.
Strategy, briefly
There is no Plinko strategy that beats the bucket maths, and anyone selling one is selling the pegs. What you can control: the version (pick 99% over 94%), the drop size (1% to 2% of your session money), the number of drops (fewer), and when you stop (decide before you start, write it down). Low risk with a stop-win feels like a strategy and is really a way of making a session last. High risk with a small stake is a lottery with better odds than the lottery. Both are honest. Martingale on Plinko is not: a 0.2x centre bucket is not a loss you can double your way out of.
The crash game strategy guide has the longer version and applies to Plinko's drop-based cousin Chicken Road as well. For the rest of the UK crash-game picture, including Aviator's return and where Spaceman sits, start at the UK crash games hub.
Plinko drops take two seconds and auto play removes the pause between them. Set a deposit limit at the casino before the first drop, use the time-out if a session stops being fun, and if it stops being fun often, GamCare is on 0808 8020 133 and GAMSTOP blocks every licensed site at once. 18+ only.
Frequently asked questions
Is Plinko legal in the UK?
Yes, at casinos licensed by the Gambling Commission. bet365, William Hill, Unibet, MrQ, Paddy Power and PlayOJO all carry at least one version. The Spribe version was unavailable at UK sites while Spribe's licence was suspended from October 2025; it was reinstated in 2026 and is returning to lobbies. Offshore sites also offer Plinko to UK players, without the Commission's protections.
Can you win real money on Plinko?
Yes. Every drop pays your stake multiplied by the bucket the ball lands in, and the money goes to your cash balance, which you withdraw to the same debit card or PayPal account you deposited with. Over thousands of drops the game keeps 1% to 6% depending on the version, so the honest answer is that you can win a drop and you will lose a long session.
What is the RTP of Plinko?
It depends on whose Plinko. Spribe's is 97% to 99% by risk level. BGaming's is 99%. Hacksaw's is set by the casino between 88.2% and 98.98%; MrQ runs it at 94.3%. The RTP is printed in the game's info panel at every UKGC site, so check it before the first drop rather than assuming.
Can I play Plinko for free in the UK?
Yes. The demo on this page is Spribe's own, with play money. At UK casinos, free play is only available after you have registered and had your age verified, which the Commission requires. The free version uses the same bucket odds; it simply does not pay out.
Which Plinko has the best odds?
On paper, BGaming's Plinko at 99% RTP and Spribe's on low risk, also 99%, give back the most per £100 dropped. Hacksaw's can be excellent or poor depending on how the casino has set it. 'Best odds' and 'biggest wins' pull in opposite directions: the 99% versions cap at 1,000x, the Hacksaw one reaches 3,843x on 16 rows at high risk.
Is Plinko rigged?
No, in the sense that the ball's path is decided by a random number, not by the animation and not by your balance. Spribe, BGaming and Stake's versions are provably fair, so you can check any drop after the fact. The house edge is built into the bucket values, which is where the casino makes its money, and that is published.
Can I use a credit card to play Plinko in the UK?
No. Credit cards have been banned for all online gambling in Great Britain since April 2020, and PayPal accounts funded by a credit card are blocked too. Use a debit card, PayPal linked to a bank account, Apple Pay or a bank transfer. Withdrawals go back to the same method.
What is the maximum bet on Plinko at UK casinos?
It varies by site and version. MrQ caps the Hacksaw Plinko at £25 a drop, several sites cap at £5 in line with the online slot stake limits brought in during 2025, and some treat Plinko as a casino game with a higher ceiling. The minimum is 10p almost everywhere. The limit is shown in the game's rules panel.
