Limbo game in the UK: the crash game with no crash, and the maths behind the 99%
Limbo is the crash game stripped to a number. You type a target multiplier, the game draws a result, and you win if the result is higher. No plane, no rocket, no waiting. This is how it works, what the 99% RTP really buys you, and where a British player stands legally.
Limbo game, to a British search engine, is a 2010 puzzle platformer about a boy in a forest, or a stick you bend backwards under at a wedding. Neither of those is on this page. The Limbo we mean is the casino game from Stake's Originals range: a text field, a target multiplier, a result, and the highest RTP of any crash-style game that exists. It has no demo we can embed and, for a UK player, no licensed home. Both of those facts shape what follows.
What Limbo is, in one round
Every crash game asks you to cash out before a rising multiplier stops. Limbo asks the same question but makes you answer it in advance. You type a target, say 2.00x, and a stake. You press bet. The game draws a result multiplier from a distribution that starts at 1.00x and stretches, in principle, to 1,000,000x. If the result is 2.00x or higher, you are paid your stake times 2.00. If it is 1.99x or lower, the stake is gone. The round takes under a second.
A 2.00x target, a 3.41x result, a win paid at 2.00x. The excess above your target is irrelevant.
That last point trips people up. In Aviator, a round that reaches 3.41x pays whoever is still in at 3.41x. In Limbo, you set 2.00x, the result is 3.41x, and you get 2.00x. The result is only compared against your target; it is not your payout. You cannot cash out late, because there is no cash-out.
So Limbo is Aviator with the timing removed. What remains is the pure bet: a target, a probability, a payout. People who find the plane animation stressful like it. People who play Aviator for the live chat and the shared rounds find it bleak. We think it is the most honest game in the category, precisely because there is nothing to watch.

The maths: what the 99% RTP means at every target
Limbo's house edge is 1%, and it is applied in the simplest way possible. The chance that a round's result is at or above any target t is 0.99 divided by t. That gives a table you can memorise:
| Target | Chance of clearing | Fair break-even chance | The 1% gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.01x | 98.0% | 99.0% | 1.0 points |
| 1.50x | 66.0% | 66.7% | 0.7 points |
| 2.00x | 49.5% | 50.0% | 0.5 points |
| 3.00x | 33.0% | 33.3% | 0.3 points |
| 5.00x | 19.8% | 20.0% | 0.2 points |
| 10x | 9.9% | 10.0% | 0.1 points |
| 100x | 0.99% | 1.0% | 0.01 points |
| 1,000x | 0.099% | 0.1% | tiny |

Read the middle two columns together. At every target the game clears slightly less often than it would need to for you to break even, and the shortfall is always 1% of the fair figure. Expected return on every bet is 99p per pound, whether you play 1.01x or 1,000x. There is no target that beats the edge, and anyone who tells you 1.5x is "safer" is describing variance, not expectation.
Compared with the rest of the genre, 99% is remarkable. Aviator pays 97%, Spaceman 96.5%, Crash X 95% in its default setting. Over 1,000 bets of £1 at a 2x target, the long-run cost of Limbo is about £10; the cost of Spaceman is £35. Those are averages across a very large number of rounds and your session will not look like them, but if you are going to play a crash game for any length of time, the RTP is the one number that compounds.
Features worth knowing
Limbo has fewer features than Aviator, which is the point, but the ones it has matter.
Auto mode. Set a target, a stake, a number of bets, and optional rules: increase the stake by a percentage on loss, reset on win, stop at a profit or loss figure. This is where every "Limbo strategy" lives, and it is the same expected return as manual play with less wear on your thumb.
Instant bet and hotkeys. With instant bet on, the result shows the moment you press, with no counting animation. Hotkeys let you bet, double and halve the stake from the keyboard. Together they let you play several rounds a second, which is why Limbo sessions can empty a balance faster than any animated crash game. Treat the speed as a hazard, not a feature.
Target field to 1,000,000x. The maximum target is a million. A result that high is about a one-in-a-million event, and the operator's maximum payout per bet, which is in the rules panel, caps what you would actually receive. Nobody plays Limbo for the million; the field is there because the distribution genuinely extends that far.
Provably fair panel. Every result is computed from a server seed, a client seed you can set yourself and a nonce that counts up with each bet. The hash of the server seed is shown before you play. When you rotate the seed, the old one is revealed and you can recompute every result it produced. This is the same model as Aviator's, and it is why "Limbo is rigged" is not a serious claim about the game itself, as opposed to the site hosting a copy of it.
How to play Limbo, with pound examples
- Set a stake. On Stake's own version, as little as a fraction of a penny; on other sites running the engine, usually 10p. We will use £1.
- Type a target multiplier. 2.00x means you are betting the result lands at 2.00 or above, a 49.5% chance. The profit-on-win field updates to show £1 at that target.
- Press bet. The result appears. 2.00 or above, your balance goes up by £1. Below, it goes down by £1.
- Repeat or change the target. Nothing about the last result changes the next one. A result of 1.02x followed by 1.03x does not make a big number "due".
A sense of what different targets feel like at £1 a bet. At 1.50x you win 66p two rounds in three and lose £1 the third; a session drifts down slowly with the odd five-loss streak. At 5x you win £4 one round in five and lose £1 the other four; runs of fifteen losses are routine. At 50x you win £49 roughly once every hundred bets and watch £1 vanish ninety-nine times. The expected loss is the same 1p a bet in all three. Pick the shape you can stand.
Why Limbo is not at a UK casino
Limbo is a Stake original. Stake's UK-facing site ran under a white-label arrangement with a Gambling Commission licence holder that surrendered its licence in 2025, and the UK operation closed with it. No UKGC-licensed casino we have checked since carries Limbo or a game built on the same single-draw mechanic. The instant-win catalogues at British casinos run on Pragmatic, Evolution, Hacksaw and in-house studios, none of which has shipped a Limbo clone to the UK market.
So for a British player, Limbo in 2026 is offshore only. The sites that serve it to a UK IP are typically Curacao-licensed crypto casinos. The game engine on those sites is often a licensed copy of Stake's, provably fair and all, and the 99% is real. What is missing is everything the Gambling Commission wraps around a licensed game: segregated funds, an ADR body for disputes, GAMSTOP, affordability checks, and a regulator who answers emails. Playing is not an offence for you. Having no recourse when a withdrawal stalls is the actual cost.
We do not list offshore brands on this site for the UK. If you want the crash format at a licensed casino, Spaceman at the brands below has a 96.5% RTP and a half cash-out, and Evolution's Cash or Crash in the live casino runs at 99.59%, which is the one game in the category that beats Limbo's number. The UK crash games hub has the full licensed-versus-offshore table.
Where to play: the licensed crash games instead

1bet365
No Limbo. The nearest licensed thing is Spaceman under Games, with a published 96.5% RTP and the half cash-out.

2William Hill
No Limbo either. Spaceman and Plinko under Games, then Instant Win; PayPal withdrawals in a few hours.

3Unibet
No Limbo. The widest instant-game range of the three, Spaceman and several Plinko versions.
None of these three has Limbo. We have listed them because they are where the licensed crash-style games live, they take a debit card or PayPal, and a British player can self-exclude from all of them in one GAMSTOP registration. For Spaceman specifically, our UK Spaceman page has the lobby path at each. For a target-and-draw game with a UK licence, the nearest thing is a high-RTP Plinko at low risk, covered on the UK Plinko page.
Strategy, predictors and the honest answer
Search "limbo stake strategy" and you get three ideas repeated a hundred ways: play low targets, use auto mode with a stake increase on loss, and watch the results feed for "patterns". The first changes variance, not expectation. The second is martingale in a dropdown; at a 2x target a run of ten losses arrives about once every 1,000 bets, which in Limbo is a quarter of an hour, and the eleventh bet in the ladder is 1,024 times your base stake. The third is astrology.
Predictor apps for Limbo exist on Telegram and in APK portals, and they are the same product as Aviator predictors: a random number generator with a confident interface, or a login-harvesting form. The result of the next round is a hash of a seed you have not seen yet. Nothing on your phone can read it. Our guide to crash game predictors covers the mechanics of the scam in full, and the global Limbo page has the version of this page without the UK framing.
What does hold up: set a target before you sit down, set a stop-loss and a stop-win in the auto mode and let the game enforce them, and treat instant bet as a hazard. Limbo's 99% is the kindest number in the genre, and it is still a number below 100.

18+ only. If Limbo has stopped being a game, GamCare's helpline is 0808 8020 133 and GAMSTOP blocks every licensed UK site in one registration, though it cannot reach the offshore sites where Limbo lives, which is one more reason to think before opening one.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Limbo game?
Limbo is a casino game from the Stake Originals range. You set a target multiplier and a stake, the game draws a random result, and if the result is at or above your target you are paid the stake times the target. If it is below, the stake is lost. There is no animation and no cash-out decision; it is a crash game resolved in one click.
What is the RTP of Limbo?
99%. The chance of any target clearing is 0.99 divided by the target, so a 2x target hits 49.5% of the time, a 10x target 9.9%, a 100x target 0.99%. The 1% house edge is the same at every target, which is why no target is 'better' than another in expectation.
Is Limbo available at UK casinos?
Not in its Stake Originals form. Stake's UK-licensed operation closed in 2025 when its licence partner surrendered its Gambling Commission licence, and we have not found a Limbo-style game at any UKGC casino since. A British player who opens Limbo today is on an offshore site with no GAMSTOP or ADR cover. Spaceman and Cash or Crash are the licensed crash-style options.
What is the highest multiplier in Limbo?
The target field accepts up to 1,000,000x and the result can, in theory, land there. The chance is 0.99 divided by a million, roughly one in a million. Sites cap the maximum payout per bet well below the stake times a million, so the practical ceiling is the operator's max win, which is shown in the game rules.
Is Limbo provably fair?
Yes, at Stake and at the sites that run the same engine. Each result is computed from a server seed, your client seed and a nonce that increments every bet. The server seed's hash is shown before you play and the seed itself is revealed when you rotate it, so any past result can be recomputed. Fair means unmanipulated, not profitable.
Is there a Limbo predictor or strategy that works?
No. Results are independent and come from a seeded hash, so nothing in the previous results tells you anything about the next one. Every strategy, from flat 1.5x targets to martingale ladders, has the same expected return of 99p per pound staked. Strategies change how you lose, not whether.
What is the minimum bet in Limbo?
Stake's version accepts bets from the equivalent of a penny or less, because it was built for crypto balances. Other sites that run a Limbo engine start at 0.10 in the account currency. The target multiplier minimum is 1.01x, which pays 1% and clears about 98% of the time.
Is Limbo the same as the Limbo game on Steam?
No. Limbo on Steam, PlayStation and Xbox is the 2010 black-and-white puzzle platformer by Playdead, and most of the UK search volume for 'limbo game' is that. The casino Limbo is a 2020 Stake original. They share a name and nothing else.
