Chicken Road app in the UK: what the downloads actually are, and the real way to play
Search for a Chicken Road app from Britain and you get a Play Store game called Chicken Cross, a Softonic trivia quiz with camera access, and a Microsoft Store title that is not InOut's game. None of them is Chicken Road. This is what each one is, why there is no official app, and the honest UK position.
Chicken Road app is one of the most searched phrases in UK crash gaming, about 1,100 a month, and every result Google returns is a different game. We installed the lot: the Play Store's Chicken Cross, the Softonic trivia quiz, the Microsoft Store road-crosser. Below is what each one is, why none of them is InOut Games' Chicken Road, and the only two ways a British player can actually open the real thing.
There is no official Chicken Road app
Start here, because every other section follows from it. InOut Games, the studio that released Chicken Road in April 2024 and Chicken Road 2 in 2025, has never published an app. Not on Google Play, not on the App Store, not as an APK on its own site. The game is HTML5 and loads in a frame from InOut's servers inside a casino's website or a casino's own app. The studio's product page offers a demo button and a "play for real" link to an operator. It does not offer a download because there is nothing to download.
So "Chicken Road app" can only mean one of three things. A casino app that includes the game, which in the UK does not exist for reasons we come to. The casino's mobile site added to your home screen, which works anywhere. Or an app from a store that has borrowed the name, which is every result currently ranking.
What the ranking downloads actually are
We installed each of these on a Pixel and, where possible, an iPhone, from a UK account. None contains InOut's game.
| Listing | Store | What it is | What it wants |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chicken Cross: Play 2 Win | Google Play | Casual lane-crossing game from a publisher with dozens of "play and win" titles; rewards in a fake-cash balance with a cash-out threshold that keeps moving | Ad views, in-app purchases |
| Chicken Road (Softonic) | Softonic | A 16-question trivia quiz by Wa_aM Dev, 23MB XAPK, last updated November 2025 | Internet plus camera, which a quiz has no use for |
| Chicken Road APK (second Softonic listing) | Softonic | A different package under the same name from another developer; we did not install this one | Install from unknown sources |
| Chicken Road 2 | Microsoft Store | A free casual road-crossing game for Windows, no relation to InOut's sequel | Nothing sinister, just not the game |
| Chicken Road (watch face) | Google Play | A smartwatch face with a hen on it | Nothing, and nothing to do with anything |
Three of the things called Chicken Road in UK app stores, and the one that is.
The Play Store entry deserves a closer look because it is the one most people install. Chicken Cross belongs to a family of apps that show you a growing cash balance for playing, then set a withdrawal minimum, then raise it, then require a hundred ad views or a referral target to "verify". Nobody is paid. These are the apps behind the People Also Ask question "what is the best game app to earn money in the UK", and the honest answer is that there is no such app, and Chicken Road is a gambling game with a house edge, not an earning app.
The Softonic listings are worse, because installing from outside the Play Store means switching off a security default. A trivia quiz that wants your camera is a trivia quiz you do not need.
Why there is no licensed UK app with Chicken Road in it
In Kenya or India the answer to "which app has Chicken Road" is a list of bookmakers. In the UK the list is empty. Chicken Road is not at a single Gambling Commission licensed casino. InOut Games does not hold a UKGC licence, and a studio needs one to supply a British operator, so bet365, William Hill, Unibet and the rest cannot carry it even if they wanted to. The casino apps in the UK App Store and Play Store, which have been allowed to list licensed real-money apps since 2021, therefore contain Spaceman, Plinko and Cash or Crash, and not Chicken Road.
The sites that do serve Chicken Road to a UK IP are offshore, usually Curacao-licensed. Some of them have Android APKs. We would not install those either, for the same reasons as the Softonic files plus one more: an offshore casino app on your phone is one with no GAMSTOP, no ADR scheme and no UK affordability rules, and a push notification channel straight to you. The UK Chicken Road page sets out the full legal position and the UK crash games hub has the licensed-versus-offshore table for every game.
The only real route: the browser
Chicken Road is a web game. It runs in Safari and Chrome on any phone identically to how it would run inside an app, because an app would be a wrapper around the same page.
The demo, free, no account. InOut's own demo runs in any browser with play money and shows the whole game: all four difficulty lanes, the bonus pickups, the cash-out after each step. It is embedded on our UK Chicken Road demo page and on InOut's site. Nothing to install, nothing to permit, and the 98% RTP on the original is the same whether the balance is real or not.
Add to home screen. If you want an icon, open the page in Chrome, tap the three-dot menu, tap "Add to Home screen" (newer Android versions say "Install app"). On iPhone, open it in Safari, tap Share, then "Add to Home Screen". The site opens full-screen without an address bar and behaves like an app, with nothing sideloaded and nothing that asks for your camera.
That is the entire install guide. For the demo it is all you need. For real money, it is still all you need, because the real-money version is the same page at an offshore site, with the legal position above attached to it.
On iPhone, on PC
The App Store is stricter than the Play Store and inconsistent. Searching "Chicken Road" from a UK Apple ID returns casual games and, occasionally, an offshore casino wrapper published under a developer name that is not the casino's. Do not install anything that asks you to change your App Store region or to trust an enterprise configuration profile. Those are the iOS versions of a bad APK, and the browser route above does the same job with none of the risk.
On a PC there is nothing to download. The game runs in Chrome, Edge and Firefox on Windows and Mac. The Microsoft Store listing called Chicken Road 2 is a casual game, and emulating an Android APK through Bluestacks to reach a web page is a long way round to a short walk.
The earning app, and the review question
A lot of the UK search tail around Chicken Road is "chicken road game real or fake", "is chicken road a scam", and it is the fake apps above that create the confusion. The game itself is real: a licensed studio, a published RTP, a demo anyone can play. The apps that borrow its name are not the game, and the sites that offer the real game to UK players are unlicensed here. Both things are true, and the UK Chicken Road review page takes the scam question apart properly.
Licensed apps with crash games in them
These are the UKGC-licensed casinos whose apps are in the official UK stores and carry crash-style games. None has Chicken Road. All take a debit card, PayPal or Apple Pay, and all are on GAMSTOP.

1bet365
No Chicken Road; it is not at any UKGC casino. The bet365 app is in the UK App Store and Play Store and carries Spaceman and Plinko.

2William Hill
No Chicken Road. The William Hill app is light and carries Spaceman and Plinko under Games.
If the step-based format is what you liked about Chicken Road, the nearest licensed thing is Mines, which several of these carry in one studio version or another, and Plinko at low risk. If it was the pace, Spaceman. The global Chicken Road page has the game explained in full without the UK framing.
18+ only. GamCare's National Gambling Helpline is 0808 8020 133, free, 24 hours. GAMSTOP covers every licensed UK app and site in one registration, and does not cover the offshore sites where Chicken Road lives.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an official Chicken Road app?
No. InOut Games, the studio that makes Chicken Road, has never released an app on the Play Store, the App Store or as an APK. The game is HTML5 and runs inside a casino website or a casino's own app. Every listing called Chicken Road in a store was published by someone else, and the ones we checked are unrelated games wearing the name.
What is the Chicken Road app on Google Play?
The listing that ranks first in the UK is Chicken Cross, a casual game from a publisher that makes dozens of play-to-win titles. It is not InOut's game, it has no real-money cash-out, and its rewards model is the ad-funded one where the payout threshold never quite arrives. A second listing is a watch-face app that borrowed the name.
Is the Chicken Road APK on Softonic safe?
We would not install it. The Softonic listing is a trivia quiz by a developer unrelated to InOut Games, packaged as an XAPK, and its permission list includes the camera, which a quiz has no reason to need. It passed an automated malware scan, which only means it is not known malware. It is still not Chicken Road.
Can I play Chicken Road at a UK casino app?
No. Chicken Road is not at any Gambling Commission licensed casino, so no licensed UK app includes it. The casino apps in the UK stores from bet365, William Hill and Unibet carry Spaceman, Plinko and Cash or Crash instead. A British player who opens Chicken Road is on an offshore site, in a browser.
How do I play Chicken Road on my phone in the UK?
In the browser. InOut's own demo runs free in Safari or Chrome with play money and is embedded on our UK Chicken Road page. The real-money version is only on offshore sites, which you would also open in a browser or add to your home screen as a web app. There is nothing to install for either.
Is Chicken Road on the App Store for iPhone?
Not from InOut, and not inside any UK-licensed casino app. The App Store search returns casual games and the occasional offshore casino wrapper published under a developer name you will not recognise. Do not install anything that asks you to change your App Store region or trust an enterprise profile; that is the iOS equivalent of a bad APK.
Is the Chicken Road 2 app on the Microsoft Store the real game?
No. The Windows listing ranking for this search is a casual road-crossing game, not InOut's Chicken Road 2 (the 2025 sequel with a 95.5% RTP). InOut's game runs in any desktop browser and has nothing to download for PC.
Why does every Chicken Road app ask for permissions it does not need?
Because the apps are not the game, and their business is somewhere else: ad impressions, data, or in the worst cases SMS and contact harvesting. A browser game needs nothing beyond a browser. If a Chicken Road download wants your camera, SMS, contacts or call log, that is the answer to whether to install it.
