Crash games in India: what people play, where, and what the law says

Aviator alone pulls around half a million searches a month from India. Chicken Road is catching up fast. This is our India desk's guide to the whole category: the games, the sites that take UPI, and the legal position after the 2025 Act.

If you only learn one thing about crash games in India, learn this: the country is the single biggest market for the format on earth, and it has no legal framework for it at all. Aviator arrived in Telegram groups in 2021, spread through cricket-betting sites during the IPL, and never left. Chicken Road showed up in 2024 and is now the fastest-growing search term we track in any country. All of it runs on offshore sites, paid for with UPI, and the law changed in 2025 in a way that most of the "is it legal" articles have not caught up with.

This page is the map. Each game has its own India page with the demo, the brands that carry it, and the rupee-level detail. Start here if you want to know what is popular, why, and what you are walking into.

Which crash games Indians actually play

We rank by search demand because that is the honest measure. Operators will tell you everything is popular. Google will not.

Bar chart of monthly Indian search volume for crash games Monthly search volume from India across all variants, Ahrefs, 2026.

Game Provider India searches per month What people search alongside it
Aviator Spribe ~500,000 predictor, app, login, game download
Chicken Road InOut Games ~190,000 chicken road 2, game download, real or fake
Plinko Spribe and others ~27,000 plinko game, stake, earning app
Mines Spribe and others ~16,000 mines game, yono mines
Lucky Jet 1Play ~8,000 1win lucky jet, predictor
JetX SmartSoft smaller jetx game, 1xbet
Balloon SmartSoft smaller balloon game, crash

Two things in that table are worth a pause. First, "predictor" is attached to every big game, which tells you how much of the Indian audience is being sold a lie. Second, "game download" and "app" show up everywhere, and the top results for those searches are Play Store apps that have nothing to do with the real games. Both problems get their own section below.

India has never had a national online gambling licence. States handle gambling, and most of them still work from the Public Gambling Act of 1867, which did not anticipate a hen crossing a road for money. Sikkim and Nagaland tried licensing schemes that went nowhere. Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana passed bans on online real-money games that have been in and out of court for years.

Then in August 2025 Parliament passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act. The short version: it bans real-money online games offered from within India, whether skill or chance, and it puts the liability on operators, payment processors and advertisers rather than on players. Dream11, MPL and the fantasy apps shut their paid formats within days.

What the Act did not do is stop offshore casinos. 1win, Mostbet, 4rabet and the rest are licensed in Curacao or Anjouan, hosted outside India, and continue to accept Indian players, take UPI and pay out in rupees. The Act gives the government powers to block them, and some domains do get blocked, which is why you see mirror links passed around in Telegram. The sites simply register a new domain.

So the honest answer to "is it legal" is: there is no legal way to play crash games from India, there is no Indian regulator protecting you, and the player is not the person the law targets. Our pages describe these sites for information. Play only if it is legal where you live, and only with money you can afford to lose.

Paying with UPI: how it actually works

Every brand on this page takes UPI, and the flow is nearly identical across them:

  1. Open Deposit and pick UPI. Some sites list PhonePe, Google Pay and Paytm separately. They all resolve to the same thing: a UPI transfer to an account the casino's payment partner controls.
  2. Enter the amount. Minimums are ₹300 at 1win and 4rabet, ₹500 at Mostbet and 1xBet, and similar elsewhere. The site shows a UPI ID or a QR code, sometimes both, with a 10 to 15 minute timer.
  3. Pay from your own UPI app. You are paying a named individual or a small business account, not "1win". That is how these payment rails work in India now that direct card deposits are mostly blocked. Pay the exact amount.
  4. Submit the UTR if asked. Mostbet and 4rabet sometimes ask for the 12-digit transaction reference. Copy it from your UPI app's history.
  5. Wait two to ten minutes. The balance credits automatically. If it has not after thirty minutes, live chat with the UTR sorts it out in our experience.

Withdrawals reverse the process. You enter your UPI ID or bank details (IMPS), request an amount above the minimum (₹500 to ₹1,000 depending on the brand), and wait. 1win and Mostbet have paid us within an hour on good days and within 24 hours on bad ones. 4rabet is slower at weekends. Expect a KYC request on your first withdrawal: Aadhaar or PAN photo plus a selfie. That is normal and not a scam signal on its own.

Crypto (USDT on TRC-20) is the other option, and it is the one to use if your bank has started flagging UPI transfers to unknown accounts. Buy USDT on an Indian exchange, send it to the casino's wallet, and withdraw the same way. Faster, no UTR, no payment-partner weirdness, but you pay exchange spreads at both ends.

A note on how we order them. 1win is first because it carries the full set (Aviator, Chicken Road, Lucky Jet, Plinko, Mines) and its UPI withdrawals have been the most consistent. Mostbet has the cleanest Aviator lobby and a promo code field at signup that actually does something. 4rabet is built for India, defaults to INR, and bundles cricket with crash. 1xBet has sixty-plus crash titles, which is more than anyone needs, inside an interface that looks like a spreadsheet. The rest are solid and get a mention on the game pages where they are relevant.

Aviator in India

Aviator is where Indian crash gaming started and it is still the centre of it. Around half a million searches a month, Hindi YouTube channels with millions of views, and more fake predictor apps than any game we track. The game itself is Spribe's 2019 original: a plane takes off, the multiplier climbs, you cash out before it flies away. RTP is 97% and it is identical at every casino because Spribe serves the game, not the operator.

What makes it stick in India is the dual bet panel, which lets people run a safe ₹10 bet at 1.5x alongside a riskier one, and the live bets feed, where you watch other Indian players cash out in real time. The social layer is half the appeal. Our Aviator India page has the demo, the brands with the fastest UPI withdrawals, rupee bankroll examples and a plain explanation of why the "Aviator predictor" apps are fake. If you want the maths behind the game, the global Aviator page has the full probability table.

Chicken Road in India

Chicken Road is the surprise of the last two years. InOut Games released it in April 2024, and by 2025 "chicken road game" was pulling more Indian searches than JetX, Plinko and Mines combined. A hen crosses a road one lane at a time. Each lane multiplies your stake. A car can hit the hen at any lane, and you cash out when you have had enough. Four difficulty levels, from easy (24 lanes, small multipliers) to hardcore (15 lanes, huge multipliers, brutal odds). RTP is 98%, the highest of any mainstream crash game.

The problem in India is that the search results are full of Play Store apps called things like "Chicken Roadrise" and "Chicken: Fortune Road" that are not the game. The real Chicken Road runs inside casinos, and the real Chicken Road 2 is the 2025 sequel from the same studio. Our Chicken Road India page has the demo, the difficulty table with real multipliers, and a clear explanation of what is real and what is a clone. There is also a dedicated app and APK page because that is what a lot of people are actually searching for.

Plinko in India

Plinko is not a crash game by mechanics. A ball drops through a triangle of pegs and lands in a multiplier bucket. There is no cash-out moment. But it lives in every crash lobby, it is provably fair, and Indian players treat it as part of the same family, so we do too. The Spribe version has 8 to 16 rows and three risk levels, with multipliers up to 1,000x at high risk on 16 rows. The Stake original is the one most people mean when they say "plinko game".

Indian search for Plinko has a dark side: the "Plinko earning app" scam. Hundreds of Play Store apps use the Plinko name, promise withdrawals, and never pay. We explain how to tell them apart from the real thing on the Plinko India page, and there is a separate page on Plinko at Stake because that query alone draws 12,000 searches a month.

Mines in India

Mines is Minesweeper with a cash-out button. A five-by-five grid, you pick how many mines are hidden (1 to 24), then reveal tiles. Every safe tile raises the multiplier. Hit a mine and the stake is gone. Cash out whenever you like. Spribe's version runs at 97% RTP; Hacksaw, Stake and Turbo Games have their own at different RTPs, and the Turbo Games one is noticeably worse at 95%.

The India-specific wrinkle is "Yono Mines", an app that borrows the name of SBI's banking app and is set up to look like a legitimate earning game. It is not. Our Mines India page covers the real game, the demo, the multiplier maths by mine count, and why the Yono-branded clones should be avoided.

Lucky Jet in India

Lucky Jet is a man with a jetpack instead of a plane, and otherwise it is Aviator. 1Play makes it, 1win carries it more or less exclusively, and in India the two names are joined at the hip: "1win lucky jet" is its own search term. RTP 97%, dual bet, auto cash-out, provably fair. If you already play Aviator there is nothing new to learn, and the only reason to pick it is that 1win's promotions sometimes attach to Lucky Jet specifically.

Where Lucky Jet differs from Aviator is the ecosystem around it. Because there is one main operator, the predictor and "signal" sellers on Telegram have an easier time pretending to have inside access. They do not. The Lucky Jet India page explains how to find the game at 1win, how the provably fair check works, and what the Telegram sellers are actually doing.

JetX and Balloon in India

JetX (SmartSoft Gaming, 2019) is Aviator's oldest rival and the only mainstream crash game that plays noticeably differently, because of its progressive jackpot and third bet slot. In India it mostly lives at 1xBet, Mostbet and Parimatch. It has a smaller following than Aviator but a loyal one. See the JetX India page for the brands and the jackpot rules.

Balloon is also SmartSoft. You pump a balloon, cash out before it pops. Rounds are shorter than Aviator, which makes it dangerously easy to play a hundred rounds in twenty minutes. RTP is 96%, a point below Aviator, which is worth knowing before you pick it over the plane. The Balloon India page has the detail.

Predictors, hacks and "real or fake"

Search any of these games from India and the autocomplete fills with "predictor", "hack", "signal" and "real or fake". We get why. The games pay real money, the maths is opaque to most people, and there is a whole industry on Telegram selling the idea that someone has cracked it.

Nobody has. Every game on this page generates its results from a server seed and client seeds that are hashed and published before the round starts. You can verify any past round. You cannot predict the next one, because the hash is one-way and the seeds are chosen before any bet is placed. A predictor app that shows "next round: 2.47x" is a random number generator with a nice interface. The ones that ask for your casino login are phishing. The ones that tell you to deposit at a specific site using their link are affiliates. We have written the full version at crash game predictors explained.

"Real or fake" has a two-part answer. The games are real: they run at real casinos and pay real withdrawals, which we have tested. The Play Store "earning apps" that use the same names are not the games. They are ad-supported casual games with a fake withdrawal screen. If an app promises you can earn money playing Chicken Road without ever depositing, it is not Chicken Road.

A note on playing responsibly

Crash games are fast. Aviator rounds last ten to thirty seconds, Balloon rounds less, and the auto bet feature means you can lose a ₹5,000 deposit in a quarter of an hour without ever consciously placing a bet. Set a deposit limit before you start, not after. Decide the amount you are willing to lose this week and treat anything beyond it as a line you do not cross.

If gambling has stopped being fun, iCall (9152987821) and the Vandrevala Foundation (1860 2662 345) both run free, confidential helplines. 18+ only.

Frequently asked questions

Is it legal to play crash games in India?

There is no licence for real-money online games in India, and the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025 bans real-money games offered from within the country. The sites that carry Aviator and Chicken Road are offshore and keep accepting Indian players. Playing is not something the Act criminalises for the player, but there is no Indian regulator to complain to if something goes wrong. Check your own state's position too.

Which crash game is most popular in India?

Aviator, by a wide margin. Across all the spelling and intent variants it draws roughly 500,000 searches a month from India. Chicken Road is second at around 190,000 and growing faster than anything else we track. Plinko, Mines, Lucky Jet, JetX and Balloon make up the rest of the list in that order.

Can I deposit with UPI on crash game sites?

Yes. Every brand on this page takes UPI, usually through PhonePe, Google Pay or Paytm, with minimums between ₹300 and ₹500. The deposit flow shows you a UPI ID or QR, you pay from your own app, and the balance credits within a few minutes. Withdrawals go back to UPI or IMPS and take anywhere from twenty minutes to two days depending on the brand.

Are the Chicken Road and Aviator apps on Play Store real?

No. Spribe and InOut Games do not publish standalone apps. The 'earning' apps you see on Google Play with those names are made by unrelated developers, usually with rewarded ads and no actual cash-out. The real games run inside casino sites and casino apps. We cover this in detail on the Chicken Road app page.

Do crash game predictors work?

No. Aviator, Lucky Jet and Chicken Road all generate results from hashed server and client seeds that are fixed before the round starts. Nothing on Telegram has broken SHA-512. Every predictor is either a random number generator, a phishing app, or a referral funnel for a casino. Usually all three. We have a full guide on how they work.

What is the minimum bet for crash games in India?

Most operators set the Aviator minimum at ₹10 and the Chicken Road minimum at ₹10 to ₹20. Plinko and Mines are usually ₹10. Maximums run from ₹8,000 to ₹20,000 per bet depending on the brand. The more useful number is the deposit minimum, which is ₹300 to ₹500 by UPI almost everywhere.
